July 2026: the project starts to take shape.
At the Muurhuizen project in Amersfoort, great progress has been made over the past period. The building is taking shape step by step, and the future character and appearance of the space are starting to emerge.
The most important milestone was the installation of the new steel trusses and steel staircases. To position these large structural elements, the roof was temporarily opened and the components were lifted into the building using a crane. Working within the narrow streets and historic surroundings of Muurhuizen required precise planning and execution. The crane setup and logistics were therefore carefully prepared in advance, ensuring that the work could be carried out safely and efficiently.
Further inside the building, work is progressing at full pace. The carpentry work on the distinctive trapezoidal roof structure is well underway, and the dormer windows have now been installed. As a result, the contours of the renovated building are becoming clearer with each passing week. The restoration work on the façade has been fully completed, bringing the exterior back to its original character and appearance.
This week, part of the scaffolding will be removed. For the first time, a large section of the renovated building will become visible, bringing the transformation one step closer to completion.

De herontwikkeling is inmiddels in volle gang. Het pand staat volledig in de steigers en de voortgang is zowel binnen als buiten goed zichtbaar. Momenteel worden de vloeren gestort, waarmee een stevige basis wordt gelegd voor de nieuwe woonindeling. Tegelijkertijd plaatsen we staalconstructies die zorgen voor de draagkracht en flexibiliteit van de appartementen aan de buitenzijde voeren we zorgvuldig herstelwerk uit aan het karakteristieke gevelmetselwerk. Elk detail krijgt aandacht om de historische uitstraling te behouden. De authentieke kozijnen worden waar mogelijk gerestaureerd en aangevuld met nieuwe, hoogwaardige ramen die passen bij het monumentale karakter én voldoen aan hedendaagse isolatie-eisen. Daarnaast installeren we duurzame warmtepompen, zodat het project klaar is voor een energiezuinige toekomst.de transformatie wordt met de week zichtbaarder. Het is bijzonder om te zien hoe dit monumentale pand stap voor stap verandert in een hoogwaardige woonomgeving, waarin industrieel erfgoed en modern comfort samenkomen.
What’s next
In the coming period, we will start creating new façade openings, bringing more natural light and space into the apartments. We will also begin the carpentry work for the roof structures and dormer windows. These interventions will give Pakhuys 1892 a contemporary addition, without compromising its historic silhouette.
Redevelopment Update
On the edge of Amersfoort’s historic city centre, in the beautiful Muurhuizen area, we are working on a special project: Pakhuys 1892 is being given a new lease of life. The impressive warehouse, built in 1892 and once used for tobacco storage, is being transformed with respect for its rich history into a modern residential complex featuring nine industrial-style apartments. In addition, we are creating a monumental townhouse with five spacious apartments, including an atmospheric maisonette.
