Pakhuys 1892 News Update - Redevelopment Progress

On the edge of Amersfoort’s historic city centre, in the beautiful Muurhuizen district, we are working on a remarkable project: Pakhuys 1892 is being given a new lease of life. The impressive warehouse, dating back to 1892 and once used for tobacco storage, is being transformed with respect for its rich history into a modern residential complex featuring nine industrial-style apartments. In addition, we are developing a listed townhouse with five spacious apartments, including a charming duplex apartment.

Current Stage of the Project

The redevelopment is now well underway. With the building fully scaffolded, progress is clearly visible both inside and outside. We are currently pouring the floors, laying a solid foundation for the new residential layout. At the same time, steel structures are being installed to ensure the strength and flexibility of the apartments.

On the exterior, we are carefully carrying out restoration work on the characteristic brick façades. Every detail is given attention to preserve the building’s historic appearance. The original window frames are being restored where possible and complemented with new, high-quality windows that match the monumental character while meeting modern insulation standards. In addition, we are installing sustainable heat pumps, ensuring the project is ready for an energy-efficient future.

The transformation is becoming more visible by the week. It is remarkable to see how this monumental building is gradually being turned into a high-quality residential environment, where industrial heritage and modern comfort come together.

What’s next

In the coming period, we will start creating new façade openings, bringing more natural light and space into the apartments. We will also begin the carpentry work for the roof structures and dormer windows. These interventions will give Pakhuys 1892 a contemporary addition, without compromising its historic silhouette.

Through these updates, we will keep you informed about the progress of this unique project in Muurhuizen.
